Catholic Identity

Religious Education is of primary importance at St Stephen’s School, where we aim to prepare each child for a l life in the 21st century. Catholic traditions will be upheld and knowledge and love of God is nurtured. This is done through the provision of regular times for class prayer throughout the school day and participation in liturgical assemblies/ masses. The educational dimension of Religious Education refers to the classroom teaching and learning of Religion.

St Stephen’s School Religion Program is based on the Religious Education Archdiocese of Brisbane Curriculum P-12 and is aligned with the Toowoomba Catholic Schools (TCSO) expectations. The content of the Religion Curriculum P-12 is organised into four interrelated strands: Sacred Texts, Beliefs, Church and Christian Life. Each strand has its own distinctive body of knowledge. Planning for the classroom learning and teaching of religion integrates all four strands.

The Religious Life of the School P-12 comprises four interrelated components: Religious Identity and Culture; Evangelisation and Faith Formation; Prayer and Worship; and Social Action and Justice. Each of these components provides a significant focus on a distinctive aspect of the religious life of the school.
